What to Do With Basement? - Feng Shui Tips for Basement and Staircase

In terms of Yin Yang Energy theory, the Chi of Yang (陽氣) goes up and rises while the Chi of Yin (陰氣) goes down and drops. Hence, the character for basement is Yin and is mostly suitable for laundry room, entertainment room or car garage, where prolonged stay is rare. It is also recommended to have ample lighting device in the basement, whenever natural sunlight cannot reach basement.
It is not recommended to have master bedroom set in the basement. Indeed, master bedroom should be located at the higher level of the house, where the Chi of Yang accumulates.

Staircase Feng Shui Tips
Similar to basement, area under staircase is also considered Yin in Feng Shui. Hence, it is not optimal to have beds being set under staircase. It is not advised to have fish tanks, water plants or antiques, which are Yin based objects, in the basement or under staircase.
To enhance good charm and Feng Shui in basement or staircase, two Feng Shui ornaments can be placed: White Quartz Crystal or a Calabash ornament.
