For the dining table positioning, there are some important points must be noted for good Feng Shui.
Dining Table Positioning
Firstly, the dining table should not be too close to the kitchen. In modern interior design, open kitchen is very popular. However, in Yin Yang perspective, dining is best to be in a stable area while kitchen’s Yin (陰) character is very strong. Also, the dining table should not be point towards doors, which are the entrance of Chi (氣).
If avoidance is not an option, a way to resolve these positioning issues is to place a greenish plant (e.g. Lucky Bamboo) or a Calabash ornament on the dining table.
Dining Table Shape
Dining tables should not have sharp angles. In Feng Shui, dining tables represent family relationship and table with sharp angles such as triangle table will prompt family conflict. Round or oval shaped dining tables are recommended for Feng Shui harmony.
Dining Table Materials
Common dining table materials include glass, marble, metal and wood. In Feng Shui, wood made dining tables are optimal while round shaped marble tables are also preferred. Glass and metal dining tables, especially those with sharp angles, should be avoided.
